         Parcel Post

         Customs declarations: 1  form C2/CP3 and 1 despatch note CP2
         Insurance: No Service.
         Customs declarations should show the Post Office serial number of the parcel
       and should, as far as possible, be prepared  in  French and English and in accor­
       dance  with  the  classification  of  the  French  customs  tariff.  Weights  and
       measurements should be shown in the metric system.
         Prohibitions: Articles made of gold or platinum, letters, agricultural  products,
       arms, charged butane gas lighters and refills, chain letters, contraceptive products,
       chemicals,  printed  papers  relating  to  lotteries,  coin,  cheques  and  securities
       (except addressed to an approved Bank) watches, clocks, pearls, precious stones,
       radio active  substances,  saccharin,  foodstuff  in  hermetically  staled  containers,
       Tube  feeding bottles and nipples not bearing the words “pure rubber”, funeral
       urns.
         Gift  Parcels:  Gift  parcels  which  must  contain  only  articles  for the  personal
       use  of  the  addressee  or  his  family  should  be  clearly  marked  “Gift  Parcel”.
         Restrictions:  Sporting  guns,  films,  medical  apparatus,  narcotics,  meat  and
       animal products, tobacco, wood products and their derivatives.
         Sealing: Parcels should be sealed with a distinctive device.
         The  importation  of some  goods  is  subject  to  the  production  of an  import
       licence, and they should not be despatched  until the addressee has obtained the
       necessary licence.
         Delivery:  The  parcels  service  extends  only  to  places  served  by  a  railway.
       Parcels are normally collected by the addressee.

         Dutiable articles may be sent by letter post—up to S100 green  label written in
       French or Portuguese and English required; thereafter top green label and form
       C2/CP3.
         Insurance: No Service.
         Prohibitions:  Bank-notes,  currency  notes  and  documents  payable  to  bearer
       except  in  insured  letters;  butane gas  lighters and  refills;  coins,  gold, jewellery,
       platinum, precious stones, silver.
         Restrictions: Patent medicines.
