The obliterators A27 to A78, were received from the G.P.0., London, and were in use at the
various Post Towns from March 1st 1859 until the 1880s. GB stamps were not authorised for use
after August 1st 1860. A79 was received at the same time but was not allotted until 1863 so it is
never found on a GB stamp.
Bath (A29) was built near the site ofa medicinal spring and became a thriving watering place for
all classes of the population.
This cover with the correct postal rate left Bath on March 22nd 1859 and arrived in Kingston the
following day.
