This obliterator was the first of three sent to Kingston, Jamaica, being despatched from London on

April 14th 1858, for use on Imperial issues which were put on sale in Kingston on May gth that

year. In the early months of use, the sale ofstamps was restricted to prepayment of packet
postage.
At this time the postal rate single was 6d. per Y2 oz. to Great Britain.
This part lettershcet is backstamped with cds's for Kingston on February 26th 1859, London on
March 20th and Liverpool the following day.
