154 POST OFFICE GUIDE

Address: The full name and address of the sender must be indicated on the
covers of all letters and packets (see also under parcel post).
Parcel Post

Insurance: No Service.
Customs declarations: 1 form C2/CP3 and 1 despatch note CP2 (a separate
set for each parcel) written in German or French and English.
Prohibitions: Arms, military materials, bees and used hives. See also under
LETTER HOST.
Restrictions: Animal products, fruits, plants and parts of plants; seeds;
narcotics; vaccines and scrums; used textiles and shoes; a certificate of disin
fection from a Medical Officer of Health must accompany used clothing and
footwear. It must show particulars of the sender and the addressee and an
exact description of the disinfected article (si/e and colours), methods of dis
infection and type of disinfectant used. The outer wrapping of the parcel and
the Customs Declaration Form must be marked "Certificate de disinfection
est insere."
Import licences must be obtained in advance for all goods except those included
in gift parcels.
Gift Parcels: Gift parcels are not accepted from commercial undertakings
or Welfare Organizations or workers. Contents must be essential relief items
for use of a private person or members of his family.
No addressee may receive more than one Gift Parcel a month.
Not more than l ll> coffee products, t !b cocoa or cocoa products. lOoz. choco
late or chocolate products, I lo/. tobacco goods may be sent and the total weight
of these goods included in any one parcel must not exceed 850 grammes (approx.
1 Jib). Medicines must not be included. Anti-democratic literature, docu
ments, written or printed notes, goods in hermetically sealed containers, postage
stamps, recordings on wire or tape, films, photographic plates and paper, maps
and toys of a military character must not be included.
Customs declarations and outer wrapping of parcels should be marked by
the side of the address:
“GESCIIENK.SENDUNC, KEINE HANDLESWARE"
Packing: Parcels must be strongly packed.
Address: If the postcode is known it should lie written to the left-hand side
of the name of the country. The prefix X must appear before the numerical code,
eg. X53, WEIMAR, Thuringia, Germany.
