There were two villages called Ramble in Jamaica at this time, the other being not far from
Kingston, but this village (A69) was a tiny place in the parish of Hanover 143 miles from
Kingston, consequently needing an 8d. rate for letters to the capital. It was the site of one of tea
plantations in the western hemisphere - there were only two, the other being in South Carolina.
Its Post Office opened in 1857, and unusually for Jamaica there were frequent changes of
postmaster, all of whom received only the minimum salary.
This entire left Ramble on June 6th 1859 arriving in Kingston on the 8th.
