St. Ann's Bay (A73) lies on the north coast, to the west of Ocho Rios and just over 60 miles from
Kingston. When he was in the employ of the G.P.O., Trollope spoke highly of its amenities and
its post office was busy, with the postmaster receiving £84 per annum and a house.
This cover to Spanish Town left St. Ann' s Bay on October 21s1 1859 and arrived the following
day.
Despite the fact that Spanish Town lies on the road from St. Ann' s Bay to Kingston, J understand
that all mails were sorted in the capital rather than being delivered en route, but this cover has not
been stamped with the expected Kingston transit date-stamp.
