1813 SINGLE RATE LETTER
This letter - O.H.M.S. - left Port Royal on January IOlh 1824 and has the London receiver for
February 15th together with the London 'packet letter' bandstamp.
Authorised by the George Act of 1813, the Single Letter rate from Jamaica to UK had been l/2d.
for Falmouth but 2/2d. for London. By the end of the century the rate was 1d. per Y2 oz!
