'TOO LATE'

'Late letters' which were handed into the post office on which the 'late fee' had not been paid
were ignored and retained for inclusion in the followmg mail being handstamped with a 'Too
Late' marking.
This Jetter is backstamped Kingston on May 18th 1843 having both the Edinburgh transit and
Aberdeen receiver dated July 4th. Since 1840 all packet letters to UK from Kingston were charged

1/- per Yz oz. (this manuscript is correct) but it cost 1 2d. from a Post Town.
