This letter to Scotland, rated ' 1/-', shows an example of P2b, the difference being that there is
only one line instead of two, separating the name of the Post Town from the word Jamaica
This letter took considerably longer than usual in transit, leaving Peartree-Grove on March 18th
1840 and not arriving in Edinburgh until May 3rd. I am assured that this Edinburgh date stamp
was printed in red and that oxidation has altered it to its present dark colour.
