Jamaica Registration: The Kingston Machine Cancellation, 1927 – 38.
A timed machine cancellation (Lant type RC 18) made up of a datestamp (Potter type TMC 3) and
the boxed word REGISTERED in the slogan position. Lant recorded only 1 copy, Swarbrick 4 and
there are now at least 8 recorded. It is not known why it was produced but used so little.
On internal cover from Kingston to Linstead, 1927. The earliest known date.

The machine cancel was resurrected after the rush of work on the 1937 Coronation. Oddly, it was not
used for the first day covers but for a batch of covers to H. & A. Wallace on 29 July 1937.
Registered philatelic cover, from Kingston to England, 1937. The machine missed two stamps, and
the job had to be completed by a hand strike of the Kingston registered oval (Lant type RC15 die 4).
