This number (A58) had a chequered career in Jamaica. It was allocated in March 1859 to
Montpelier and this office was closed from 1860 until it re-opened in the following year then shut
again for over 30 years. A GB 6d. lilac is known with this number in its original format.
Another A58 canceller in a different format was sent to Bluefields in 1866 but this office also
closed, this time from 1869 till 1871. However, this new canceller was used until the reign ofKE
VII.
This letter left Bluefields on May 8th 1880, transited Kingston on the 9th and arrived on the 28th in
Narberth.
