GOLDEN-SPRING
This letter has the PS type of date stamp which is very like the P3 but is the first type to use sans
serif capitals. Golden-Spring was a small community receiving this handstamp, of which only 7
examples are known, in November 1846.
The front has a manuscript '1 /2' and, like many of the other early letters, is addressed to the
headquarters of a missionary society. The letter left Golden-Spring on August 19th 1847 and
arrived in London on October 7th_
