Type (i).
Within the sub-group Type (i) are included the M - CAC 2
haRdstamps used by the first Unit of Y Force, the

Winnipeg Grenadiers. ~his Unit appears to have used
Numbers 3 (~lack) anq 4 (Black and Red), handsiamp Number 4
being the type without the inverted commas around the
letter Y.

Type (ii).
Within the sub-,roup Type (ii) are included the
M - CAC 2 handstamps used by the second Unii, namely, The
1st Battalion, Argyle and Suifterland Highlanders of Canada.
This Unit appears to have made ~e most use of this
handstamp, using~ (Black and Red), ' (~lack), 4 (Red,
Black and Purple), ? (Bla~k), 6 (Blue and Black) and 8
(Black and Purple). The saae comments rnade be.fore apply
~o handstamp Number 4, it was the same handstamp passed on.

Type (iii).
sub-group Type (iii) includes ~he bandsiamps used by
the third Unit, ihe Irish Fusiliers of Canada (~he Vancouver
Begimeni). Three handstamps were used, namely, 6 (~lue)
and 10 (Purple and Black)· iogeihe~ with ihe bandstamp which
had no number. Re.ardi~ dates o£ usa,ge, al~hough
-this Unit was in -the island until -the 6-\h Augusi, 1944,
tha use of ~his hands~ampceased about the 1st April, 1944·
