BOTSWANA
Letter Post
Air Mail } ^cc Schedules of Overseas Letter Rates.
Dutiable articles may be sent by letter and small packet post—up to $100
green label required; thereafter top green label and form CP2.
Insurance: No Service.
Prohibitions: Charged butane gas lighters and refills (uncharged lighters are
admitted); honey and used beekeeping appliances, diamonds and precious metals
(except in registered letters).
Restrictions apply to the importation of Arms, bees, leeches and silkworms,
parasites and destroyers of noxious insects intended for the control of these
insects exchanged between officially recognized institutions; cheese, cigarettes,
drugs, offensive weapons of every kind and articles bearing a resemblance or
capable of conversion to a weapon, including pocket knives and toy pistols,
plants and seeds, serums, and vaccines, spirits, yeast.
Import Licences are required for many classes of goods and the sendzr is
advised to ascertain whether the Licence has been obtained by the addressee.
Customs duty may be charged on advertising matter.

Insurance: No Service.
Prohibitions: Letters, bullion, charged butane gas lighters and refills (uncharged
lighters are admitted); coin, honey and used bee-keeping appliances, oilskins and
similar oiled goods; precious stones except in registered letters.
Restrictions: Arms and ammunitions of every kind and articles bearing a
resemblance or capable of conversion to a weapon including pocket knives and
toy pistols, bees, leeches, silkworms, parasites and destroyers of noxious insects
intended for the control of these insects and exchanged between officially recog
nized institutions; cheese, cigarettes and manufactured leaf tobacco, drugs,
military uniforms and equipment, plants and seeds, serum, vaccine and similar
preparations, spirits, worn clothing, yeast.
Invoice: The addressee must produce a certified invoice in respect of any com
mercial parcel and this invoice must be sent separately by the sender.
Import licences arc required for many classes of goods and the sender is advised
to ascertain that the licence has been obtained by the addressee. A licence is not
required for a bona fide Gift parcel which does not exceed JS10 in value, or 11 It
in weight.
Wharfage dues may be levied on parcels at the time of delivery.
Delivery: Parcels are not delivered.
Compensation is not payable for ordinary parcels lost, stolen or damaged in the
Botswana Service.
