Jamaica Registration: Insurance.
Cover from Lucea to Great Britain, Insured for (£9), 1954.
The fee for insuring a letter overseas up to a value of £12 was 9d in 1954, but this now included registration,
which was 4d by 1954, so there was effectively no increase in the insurance element since the 1937 cover.
The 11½d paid is
correct:
2½d surface
postage and 9d
registration and
insurance.
Lucea:
· 3 November 54;
· registration label
(Lant type RL2).
Kingston:
registered:
4 November 54
(Lant type RC20a).
Birmingham:

Extract from the Post Office Guide, 1952.
The requirements for seals
were very particular.
On the back of this cover the seals are
correctly applied in the five prescribed
places on the back, but they are blobs, not
“identical seals in fine wax, with spaces
between, reproducing a private mark”.
