The Royal Air Force in Jamaica.

RAF 2 . ROYAL AIR FORCE/PALISADOES .

This is the usual type of TRD marking, comprising a double lined outer oval with
denticulated outer edge , 30 x 50mm, and a single line inner oval, 17 x 37mm. It is
worded ROYAL AIR FORCE around the top and PALISADOES around the bottom, with stars on
each side separating the wording, which is in 2mm high block serif type . The centre
has a single solid line with the word date below, also in smaller block serif type and
the mark is struck in purple ink .
EKD : 8 August 1944 LKD :

O. H.M . S . cover to the U. S . A . bearing RAF 2 which is dated the 8 ~ August, 1944, and
the cover also bears purple OFFICIAL/PAID marking .

RAF 3 . ROYAL AIR FORCE/ACCOUNTS UNIT/date/PALISADOES , JAMAICA/BRITISH WEST INDIES.

This is a five line marking worded as above, all in block sans serif type in various
sizes within a single line frame , 30 x 50mm, the marking being struck in purple ink .
EKD : 10 November 1944 LKD :

A further O. H.M . S . cover to Washington which has RAF 3 handstamped on both the obverse
and reverse of the cover . In this case the item is un-franked or untaxed although it
bears no OFFICIAL PAID handstamp, but RAF 3 is dated the lOth November , 1944 .
