This letter per the Duke !Ra ett to C~L Dillon . as \\ntten on August 24m : 759 from
Westmoreland Jamaica b~ Jame Barclay. In the next panel I have copied it verbatim.

It is marked in manuscript ·paid l '3. (early inJand rate) and IN6 (packet rate to London) on the

obverse and on the reverse there is a London Bishop mark dated November I61h.
The '1N6' looks remarkably similar to a modern text message, but apparently was acceptable in
the reign of George II to express the sum of 18 d.
