Internal Mail from Black River to Sav La Mar
Black River is situated on the coast, 7 miles N of Savanna La Mar, 87 miles from Kingston.
The river was the Rio Caobana [Mahogany River] of the Spaniards,
said to be the only navigable river on the island and used by the Arawaks.
The Post Office opened about 1774.
Mrs Elizabeth R. Scott, was Postmistress between 1848 – 1880.
