JAMAICA POSTAL CENSORSHIP
Imperial Censorship Labels: UK Type
Several different types of UK-style resealing labels were used by the Imperial Censorship Service in
Jamaica. None initially bore any indication of the country, so confirmation that covers were censored
in Jamaica requires knowledge of airmail routes and the locations of individual censors.

The letter was examined by Censor No.1260 of the Imperial Censorship Service who resealed the
envelope with a JL34 UK-type label, handstamped with the date (DS1) - 23rd September 1941. The
crayon "X" may indicate that the censor found something needing referral to a more senior censor.
