JAMAICA POSTAL CENSORSHIP
Terminal Censorship: lnstructional Enclosure
The local Jamaican Censorship Service used several types of enclosures, labels or forms giving
information or guidance to either the recipient or the sender. These lack any "P.C. " notation that is
typically found on such items of the Imperial Censorship Service. All are rare.

Airmail Cover from Kingston to Neuchätel, Switzerland
Mailed in Kingston on 21 51 May 1942 and paying the 2s.2d. Transatlantic airmail rate to Europe, the
left hand one shilling stamp has the "repaired chimney" variety (stamp 1, row 11).

Opened by the Jamaican Censorship service, the envelope was resealed with a JL14 type labe!
handstamped with the letter "D" (PX2) on the reverse, and bearing the JCH3 censorship handstamp
of Examiner No.7.

The envelope also contained the hand typed and partially handwritten instructional note (JL101),
clearly produced locally for the Jamaican Censorship Service. lt has the same wording as the P.C. 2
form used by the Imperial Censorship Service in the United Kingdom ; the only known example.
