Sec tion XIII , Camp Unit Handstamps .
These were handstamps used by the Orderly Room to identify an item as being from
the Camp and like similar markings elsewhere are considered as unit handstamps .
GCU 1 . CAMP GIBRALTAR .
This is a straight line, unframed marking, worded CAMP GIBRALTAR in purple block
Serif type, 5 x 48mm, with a perioid after GIBRALTAR. It is shown on a cover shown
earlier under GC 1 - Section XII.

GCU 2 . GIBRALTAR CAMP.
This is a double lined circle , 34mm in diameter, with GIBRALTAR at the top and
CAMP at the bottom at the bottom both in 3mm high sans serif type with a period
after CAMP. The distance between the G and the last R of GIBRALTAR is 27mm. The
C of CAMP is raised slightly out of line with the rest of the word. The centre
is blank and it is only recorded in black ink .

Censored cover to Gibraltar bearing GCU 2 dater, the reverse wit h Gibraltar slo an
dater of the 21st July, 1941 reading GIBRALTAR/THE KEY/OF THE MEDITARRANEAN. The g
cover also has PC 3, No . 21 censorship handstamp, and is franked at 1/- .
