Prisoner of War , Internment Camps , and Gibraltar Camp , Jamaica .
Section I, Genera1 Position.
These three camps have been included together as in World War II
they were inter-related and were in close proximity to each other .
Below is a sketch plan of the area during World War II which was a
complex of camps generally known as Up Park Camp , Jamaica .
It should be added that during World War I there was neither a
Gibraltar Camp nor a Women' s Interment Camp, herein referred to as
t he Hanover Camp .
Prior the 19~ Century Jamaica had also had Prisoners of War
interned on the island, such prisoners from the Napoleonic and Severn
Years being held in hulks in Kingston harbour .
