Jamaica: War Stamps 1916 - 1920.

            From 1 April 1916 Jamaica imposed a War Tax. The tax could be paid by any postage stamps but
            special War Stamps were issued, ½d, 3d and later 1½d. There were four issues of War Stamps, the
            first three issues locally overprinted by the Government Printing Office, Kingston.


                                                     First issue, 1 April 1916.
                     ½d, estimated 940,320 stamps.                             3d, estimated 157,680 stamps.












                    Yellow-green.        Blue-green.              On white paper       On lemon.        On pale yellow.
                                                                   coated yellow.


            Each of the three local issues had more than one printing and the type was sometimes reset.
            Davis lists 157 major and minor varieties in the three issues on various values and sheet positions.
