The next group of covers are ones with PCL 2 labels but with the addition of an
Examiner's number added by the handstarnp which is designated here as PC 2 . These
covers are listed in the order of their PC 2 numbers . I t is believed that the
numbers range from 6 to 40 a nd are from 3~ to 4mm high within a single line circle
15~ in diameter. To date, numbers 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 , 12 , 13, 14 , 15, 16, 17 , 18 , 19,
20 , 21 , 22 , 23, 24 , 27 , 29, 30, 32 and 36 have been recorded with overall dates of
usage of : -
EKD : 12 January 1940 LKD : 16 September 1942
Cover from Kingston to Manchester fran ked at 10d cancelled by Kings ton dater of
The 19Lh September, 1940 . It bears PCL 2 label and PC 2, Number 6. The figure 6
has no dot after i t ; a dot appears after the figure 9 so as to distinguish the two
figures which may have been struck "inverted".
