Jamaica: War Stamps 1916 - 1920.

                                                           Second issue.
The War Tax as imposed from 1 April 1916 included an added ½d on postcards to the United
Kingdom and the Empire. This was the only provision vetoed by the British Government, because the
previous 1d rate was already the maximum allowed by the UPU. The tax on overseas postcards was
therefore withdrawn from 1 October 1917 to keep within the maximum UPU rate of 1d.

Two ½d War Stamps, second issue, on postcard to the United Kingdom, paying
the correct 1d rate on 11 October 1917, 10 days after that rate was restored.

                                                                                                Kingston
                                                                                                machine cancel:
                                                                                                 11 October 17.

The second issue set on registered philatelic cover to Japan, 1916. No War Tax payable.
UPU postage should be 4½d (2½d + 2d registration) so the 5d franking is ½d overpaid.
