                                                    SER.ET Variety

The variety “SER.ET” exists on all values in place of “SERVIET”.
The error occurs in the top left pane, row 4 column 2.

The error was probably caused by a particle of grit wedged in the angle of the V or possibly between the V & I on the plate.
A pear shaped full stop is printed to the exclusion of the two letters,
but with heavier printing or gradual wear of the obstruction portions of the letters reappeared.

                                                       “Normal” Variety
                                                   V and I completely missing.

V and I partially reappearing. V and I partially reappearing
                                                                                        I stronger.

V and I partially reappearing V and I missing but V missing but I reappeared
                   Frame broken. R approaching P. R approaching F
                                                                                            Frame broken.

The printers seem to have corrected the error in July 1905.
Three printings were invoiced on the 18th of this month (on Multiple Crown CA paper),
the Halfpenny and Five penny values can be found with the error but the Penny has been corrected.
No correlation has been found between the reappearance of the letters and the printings,
leading to the conclusion that the variety was not progressive.
